New Content May Offer a New Ending?
The Director for Final Fantasy 15 attended a Fan Greet Event and asked for Fan Feedback on a new ending. He wanted to get an idea of what fans of Final Fantasy 15 wanted to see. This is likely for the upcoming content episodes scheduled to come out through 2019. A fan who attended the event took to twitter to send out his query:

Here is a google translation for you, should your browser not be able to translate:
Asked to FF 15 fans participating in fan greeting from Mr. Tabata. “Everyone, do you want to see a happy ending? “Conversely would you like to see a super bat end? While thinking about various things in the future, it seems that he decided roughly what to make by seeing the reaction of 15 fans in this question. You see a different end …?
Most Seem to Want a Happy Ending
From what I’ve seen, skimming through some responses to his query, many want a Happy Ending. While some where content and said that the sad ending added weight and purpose to the end of the game, many disliked it. For myself, I absolutely hated it. From the very beginning up until around the end of Chapter 9, I enjoyed this game. I won’t spoil what happens, but those who played the game will know exactly what point I’m speaking of. From that point on, the game was not just depressing…it was extremely depressing. Many people questioned if the entire team of bros died at the end or not
For myself, the ending felt pointless. Sure, you defeat the bad guy and the world is saved…but the end felt empty to me. It’s hard to say why without spoilers. After the credits finished rolling, I just shook my head and was happy to escape the depressing end of the game. This is the only reason I never bothered with a second playthrough with the new DLC, even though I purchased the season pass. And yes, I know that Episode Ignis adds an alternate ending. However, that didn’t appear to change the fate of one character that causes the rest of the game to become a pity party. I’ll probably pick it up again at some point, especially if Hajime Tabata makes the game less depressing.
Honestly, I hope the new content offers a more “Happy Ending” that ties into the main storyline (if you take this new path) of the game and not an Episode by itself. Not a lot of information is available yet. For now, we will just have to wait and see what Hajime Tabata has in store for us. Final Fantasy 15 is available now on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Final Fantasy 15 will be released for PC on March 6th 2018.
